ABOUT ME

In all of my work, I am inspired by the diversity of ways you can empower people and promote resilience. Some of my roles include:

Dr. Stephanie Ernestus is an Associate Professor and Clinical Psychologist. She provides therapy to children and families. This is a picture of her face. She is wearing a floral shirt.
  • As a child psychologist I believe that people are deeply shaped by their relationships, experiences, and environments—and that meaningful change happens when those factors are understood and intentionally supported. I work with families, children, adolescents, and my students to build skills, strengthen relationships, and use the supports around them to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

  • In my work as a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts, I help kids and families meet their goals using evidence-based approaches. My training has always been focused on working with children and providing cutting-edge, research-based cognitive and behavioral treatments (CBT). I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. I completed my predoctoral internship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Nathanson Family Resilience Center at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. From 2017 to 2019, I served as supervising clinical faculty at UCLA, where I trained other clinicians in evidence‑based treatments for children and families.

  • I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Stonehill College in Massachusetts. My work at Stonehill College is informed by the idea that I can continue to improve lives of youth, families, and students through education, service, and research.  I teach courses in child development, psychopathology, multicultural psychology, and psychotherapy. My work in teaching and research keeps me engaged with current psychological science, which directly informs my clinical practice as a psychologist providing therapy in Massachusetts.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. I love when clients share their favorite music, books, and tv shows, and am always taking suggestions for my next adventure!
